CVE-2025-27021

Privilege escalation via passwordless devmem execution

Published Jul 2, 2025 · Updated Jul 2, 2025

Incorrect privilege assignment in Infinera GX G42 6.1.3 allows local users to read and write physical memory through devmem. The appliance sudoers configuration permits low-privileged OS accounts to execute devmem as superuser without a password and specify arbitrary physical addresses. An existing low-privilege account is required; memory reads disclose sensitive data, while writes can alter kernel memory, elevate privileges, or interrupt service.
