Cellular service interruption via malformed RLC AM PDUs

Published Oct 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 20, 2025

Memory corruption in Samsung Exynos and modem L2 firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt cellular service via crafted RLC AM data PDUs. The RLC acknowledgement-mode parser mishandles data PDUs containing many chunks under an 11-bit length-indicator and 10-bit sequence-number configuration, corrupting baseband memory. The packet is reachable over the air in connected protocol states without application-layer access, and exploitation crashes or disconnects the baseband rather than affecting stored data.
