Tag metadata disclosure via unfiltered collections
Published Feb 24, 2025 · Updated Feb 24, 2025
Information disclosure in affected Moodle LMS 4.1, 4.3, 4.4, and 4.5 releases allows remote attackers to discover hidden tag names. The core_tag_collection::get_tag_cloud method accepted a requested collection identifier without intersecting it with searchable collections, and the tags block also listed unsearchable collections. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the disclosed data is limited to tag metadata rather than the tagged resources themselves.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.1.0 <4.1.16
