CVE-2025-26519

Memory corruption via invalid EUC-KR decoding

Published Feb 14, 2025 · Updated Feb 14, 2025

Out-of-bounds writing in musl iconv 0.9.13 through 1.2.5 allows attackers to corrupt memory via untrusted EUC-KR text. The EUC-KR decoder accepts invalid trailing bytes and can emit values outside the Unicode scalar range, while the UTF-8 encoder trusts that range invariant and writes an oversized sequence past the destination buffer. Exposure requires an application to select EUC-KR from attacker-controlled metadata, request UTF-8 output, and process attacker-supplied content, resulting in memory corruption within that application.
