Local privilege escalation via unrestricted FRRO paths
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Sep 4, 2025
Confused-deputy behavior in Android 14 and 15 Framework allows local users to access other apps' task snapshots through crafted FRRO paths. ResourcesImpl.loadDrawableForCookie accepts a fabricated runtime resource overlay path outside the FRRO directory and loads the referenced drawable on the caller's behalf. A low-privileged app can exploit the flaw without user interaction or additional execution privileges, exposing protected snapshots and enabling local privilege escalation.
