Remote privilege escalation via false Bluetooth OOB claim
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Improper authentication in Android 13 through 15 allows remote attackers to escalate privileges through Bluetooth SMP pairing. The smp_process_secure_connection_oob_data function substitutes a zero OOB randomizer when no local OOB data exists instead of rejecting a peer that falsely claims OOB data. A malicious Bluetooth peer within radio range needs no user interaction to complete pairing and cross the device's trust boundary.
