SYSTEM code execution via permissive installer folder
Published Jun 2, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Local privilege escalation in SolarWinds Dameware Mini Remote Control 12.3.1.20 and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The product installer applies incorrect permissions to a product folder, enabling attacker-controlled code to execute in the SYSTEM context. A valid low-privilege account and local code execution on the Windows host are required; remote-only access does not reach the flaw.
