Service interruption via unreleased SWF parser allocations
Published Feb 20, 2025 · Updated Feb 21, 2025
Memory leak in libming 0.4.8 allows remote attackers to exhaust memory and interrupt service by supplying a crafted SWF file. parseSWF_DEFINESCENEANDFRAMEDATA allocates scene and frame arrays plus their name strings but supplies no corresponding deallocation path. The attack requires a user or downstream application to parse the malicious file, and repeated unreleased allocations can exhaust process memory and stop the service.
