Authenticated arbitrary SQL execution via placeholder substitution
Published May 5, 2025 · Updated May 5, 2025
SQL injection in osTicket 1.17.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL through ticket search parameters. The tickets.php search path passes keywords and topic_id through a custom ORM whose single-pass colon removal leaves a placeholder that MySqlPreparedExecutor substitutes inside the SQL string. A valid account and a crafted combined request are required; successful exploitation exposes database contents and permits attacker-controlled queries.
