Credential disclosure via expiration-bearing plugin responses
Published Mar 21, 2025 · Updated Oct 14, 2025
Credential exposure in Amazon Web Services AWS CDK CLI 2.172.0 through 2.178.1 allows local users to read AWS credentials from console output. When a custom credential plugin returns temporary credentials with an expiration property, the CLI prints the full returned object, including access keys and the session token, to the console. Exposure requires an affected CLI execution with that plugin response, and the credentials are available only to users with access to the execution console or captured logs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
