CVE-2025-2591Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash via zero MDL skin dimension

Published Mar 21, 2025 · Updated Mar 21, 2025

Divide-by-zero in Assimp 5.4.3 allows attackers to crash an importing application by supplying a malformed Quake 1 MDL file. MDLImporter::InternReadFile_Quake1 accepts either nonzero skin dimension, then divides INT_MAX by the other dimension even when that value is zero. Exploitation requires an application to process the crafted file; the resulting floating-point exception aborts the importing process.
