CVE-2025-2583Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Script execution via unescaped mailing preview

Published Mar 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Cross-site scripting in SimpleMachines SMF 2.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through the mailing preview. ManageNews.php places the subject and message parameters into the administrative mailing preview without neutralizing script markup. Access to the administrative mailing feature and preview action is required, and Simple Machines disputes that this authenticated behavior constitutes a security flaw.
