Stored XSS via unsanitized attachment notice
Published Mar 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in SimpleMachines SMF 2.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to inject script through the Notice parameter. The ManageAttachments.php attachment-removal path accepts Notice in by-age and by-size POST requests and later renders it in a post without neutralization. Administrative access, attachment deletion, and a victim viewing the affected post are required; Simple Machines disputes that this behavior is a security flaw.
