CVE-2025-25568Public exploit

Local utility crash via expired stack pointer

Published Mar 12, 2025 · Updated Jul 19, 2025

Stack use-after-scope in the VPN Tools Check utility distributed with SoftEtherVPN 5.02.5187 allows local users to crash the utility. CheckNetworkListenThread passes a pointer to its stack-local CHECK_NETWORK_2 structure into a new CheckNetworkAcceptThread, which can read that structure after its scope ends. Triggering requires a local user to run multiple vpncmd instances and invoke VPN Tools Check; the supplier states that the utility accepts no untrusted input and runs only with that user's privileges, and disputes that SoftEther VPN itself is affected.
