Local device control via unchecked setup input
Published Feb 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Buffer overflow in the mobile access point setup operation of TRENDnet TEG-40128 firmware 1.00.023 allows local users to control the switch. The operation copies attacker-controlled setup data into a fixed-size buffer without first verifying the input length. Exploitation requires local access and grants control of switch operation, including the ability to alter behavior or interrupt service.
