Denial of service via out-of-range background fill
Published Feb 18, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Buffer overflow in DCMTK 3.6.9+ DEV allows attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted monochrome DCM file. When an invalid image supplies fewer stored pixels than its declared matrix, DiMonoInputPixelTemplate fills the remainder using an out-of-range modality minimum. A DCMTK-based application must process the file; public records do not identify the exact failure mode or report code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
