Service interruption via leaked IAMF parameter allocations
Published Feb 18, 2025 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
Memory leak in FFmpeg 7.0 through 7.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted IAMF media files. The param_parse function allocates an IAMF parameter and returns on mismatched subblock durations without freeing that allocation. Processing the crafted media requires user interaction; repeated invalid parameters consume heap memory until the FFmpeg process can no longer provide service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
