Stored DOM XSS via unescaped ThickBox attributes
Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored DOM-based XSS in NextGEN Gallery 3.59.11 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in visitors' browsers. The same flaw affects Auto Thickbox 3.5 and earlier and YouTube Embed, Playlist and Popup by WpDevArt 2.6.7 and earlier because bundled ThickBox 3.1 code uses user-supplied attributes without sufficient sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store a payload in a page, and the script executes when a visitor opens that page in the site's security context.
