Application crash via entity-node _ref access
Published Dec 26, 2025 · Updated Dec 26, 2025
Denial of service in libxmljs 1.0.11 allows remote attackers to crash applications by supplying a crafted XML document. After parseXml creates entity_ref or entity_decl nodes, reading their internal _ref property directly or during object logging triggers a segmentation fault. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse attacker-controlled XML and then inspect an affected node; the documented consequence is process termination.
