CVE-2025-25298Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated account access via bcrypt password truncation

Published Oct 16, 2025 · Updated Oct 16, 2025

Weak password handling in Strapi before 5.10.3 allows remote attackers to authenticate to accounts created with passwords over 72 bytes. @strapi/core passes overlong passwords to bcryptjs, which silently discards every byte after the 72nd during hashing and comparison. Exploitation requires an existing admin or Users & Permissions account with an overlong password and knowledge or guessing of its retained prefix; access is limited to that account's privileges.
