Root code execution via unvalidated file path
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Path traversal in affected Fortinet FortiWeb releases allows remote authenticated users to access and modify the appliance filesystem. The cgi_httpcontentrouting_post function uses an administrator-supplied path in file operations without validating that it remains within an intended directory. Administrative authentication is required, and successful exploitation executes attacker-controlled code with root privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.0.11
- Affected versionversion=7.2.0 <=7.2.11
- Affected versionversion=7.4.0 <=7.4.6
