Subscriber-level shortcode execution via unchecked action value
Published Feb 7, 2025 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Missing authorization in DeannaS Embed RSS 3.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary WordPress shortcodes. An exposed action passes an insufficiently validated, attacker-controlled value to WordPress's do_shortcode function without enforcing authorization. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the resulting read or write effects depend on the shortcodes registered by installed components.
