CVE-2025-25062Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via CKEditor long-text isolation failure

Published Feb 3, 2025 · Updated May 9, 2025

Stored XSS in Backdrop CMS 1.28.0 through 1.28.4 and 1.29.0 through 1.29.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript. The CKEditor 5 integration loads stored long-text markup into its editing surface without isolating an attacker-supplied image event handler. The attacker needs permission to create long-text content through a node or comment form, and an administrator must edit rather than merely view it.
