Local privilege escalation via improper default permissions
Published May 30, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Improper default permissions in Lenovo PC Manager before 5.1.110.5082 allow local users to elevate privileges on Windows systems. Lenovo has not published which installed resource receives the unsafe permissions or how that resource enters a privileged execution path. A low-privileged local account and no user interaction are required, and successful exploitation grants elevated control over the host.
