CVE-2025-25013Network attack vector

Secret exposure via unfiltered environment-variable transmission

Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 9, 2025

Information exposure in Elastic Defend before 8.17.3 allows remote authenticated users to send macOS environment secrets to the stack. The macOS Endpoint telemetry path automatically transmits unfiltered environment variables, including API keys and tokens, to the Elastic Stack. Exploitation requires low-privileged network access and a protected macOS host whose process environment contains sensitive values; confidentiality is the only reported impact.
