Plaintext password storage in Hitachi Energy Asset Suite 9.6.4.4 and 9.7 allows remote attackers to gain unauthorized access via SOAP Web services. Hitachi Energy maps the flaw to CWE-256 but does not identify the password-storage locus or disclose the SOAP operation that leaves credentials recoverable. Exploitation requires network access without prior privileges and attack-specific conditions, and it lengthens the period during which stored passwords can be attacked.
