CVE-2025-24915

Local privilege escalation via insecure subdirectory permissions

Published Mar 21, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Incorrect default permissions in Tenable Nessus Agent 10.7.3 and earlier and 10.8.0 through 10.8.2 allow local users to escalate privileges. The Windows installer leaves subdirectories under a non-default destination without secure access controls, exposing installer-created content to modification. Exploitation requires an installation whose directory permissions were not separately secured and results in local privilege escalation.
