CVE-2025-24904Network attack vector

Message forgery via unchecked plaintext envelopes

Published Feb 13, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Plaintext-envelope injection in Whisperfish libsignal-service-rs allows remote authenticated users to forge message content. In src/cipher.rs, envelope processing accepted Content decoded from plaintext data without enforcing the envelope's original encryption state. A malicious Signal client or server able to submit an envelope can inject content treated as authenticated, undermining message integrity and end-to-end confidentiality.
