CVE-2025-24903Network attack vector

Contact-to-device impersonation via unchecked sync-message sender

Published Feb 13, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Insufficient origin verification in Whisperfish libsignal-service-rs before commit 82d70f6 allows remote authenticated users to forge sync messages. The message-decryption path in src/cipher.rs accepts decoded sync content without comparing the envelope sender ACI with the local UUID. Any existing contact can consequently impersonate another device of the local user and inject trusted-looking synchronization content.
