Unauthorized AI bot activation via Wrangler plugin
Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Mattermost 9.11.0 through 9.11.9 allows remote authenticated users to activate the AI bot via crafted posts. The Wrangler post-handling path trusts the activate_ai override property on a post instead of enforcing the AI bot's access restriction. Both AI and Wrangler plugins must be enabled; affected 10.4.0 through 10.4.3 and 10.5.0 through 10.5.1 deployments allow bot activation, with no reported confidentiality or availability impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
