CVE-2025-24832

Arbitrary file overwrite via symbolic link following

Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Feb 28, 2025

Symbolic link following in Acronis Backup integrations before the listed fixed builds allows local users to overwrite files during home recovery. The home-directory recovery path follows attacker-controlled UNIX symbolic links instead of constraining writes to the intended recovery tree. A low-privileged local user must prepare a symlink before recovery; exploitation changes a chosen file but does not disclose data or interrupt service.
