CVE-2025-24800Network attack vector

Forged-header acceptance via inverted signature verification

Published Jan 28, 2025 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Improper signature verification in Polytope Labs Hyperbridge before 15.0.1 allows remote attackers to submit arbitrary finalized headers. The GRANDPA precommit verifier omits negation around signature validation, so it rejects valid signatures but accepts invalid signatures or messages. An unauthenticated malicious prover can falsely establish header finality, enabling fund theft or compromise of cross-chain applications.
