CVE-2025-24797Network attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via malformed protobuf packets

Published Apr 14, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in Meshtastic Firmware before 2.6.2 allows remote attackers to execute code via malformed mesh packets. The mesh-packet handling path fails to bound memory operations while processing invalid protobuf data, producing an attacker-controlled overflow. No authentication or user interaction is required when the target rebroadcasts packets on the default channel, and successful exploitation redirects execution flow.
