Contributor-level stored XSS via insufficient output escaping
Published Jan 24, 2025 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in Pete Dring Create with Code 1.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in visitors' browsers. The plugin stores contributor-supplied content without sufficient input sanitization and output escaping, causing injected web scripts to run when an affected page is viewed. Contributor-level access and a later page view are required; public advisories do not identify the affected shortcode field or rendering function.
