CVE-2025-24514Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Controller code execution via unquoted auth URL

Published Mar 24, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Configuration injection in Kubernetes ingress-nginx 1.11.4 and earlier and 1.12.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The rootfs/etc/nginx/template/nginx.tmpl template inserted the annotation-derived external-auth URL into an NGINX set directive without quotation, permitting directive injection. Kubernetes API permission to create or update an Ingress object is required; successful exploitation runs code as the controller and exposes Secrets readable by its service account, which defaults to cluster-wide access.
