Bot protection bypass via client-controlled difficulty

Authentication bypass in Anubis before 1.11.0-37-gd98d70a allows attackers to evade its proof-of-work bot protection. The passChallenge handler accepted the client-supplied difficulty parameter and used it to test the response hash, so difficulty zero made any nonce valid. A targeted remote attacker must first request a challenge and can then reach website content intended to remain behind the configured bot check.
