System environment manipulation via malformed Proxy requests
Published Apr 30, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Improper input validation in ctrlX OS Device Admin allows remote authenticated users to alter /etc/environment through Proxy requests. The Proxy handler accepts crafted request data without enforcing the expected syntax and writes the resulting values into the system environment file. Low-privileged access to the Proxy function is required; Bosch has not disclosed how altered environment values affect subsequent processes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.12.0 <=1.12.9
- Affected versionversion=1.20.0 <=1.20.7
- Affected versionversion=2.6.0 <=2.6.8
