Hosts-file manipulation via malformed HTTP input
Published Apr 30, 2025 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Improper input validation in ctrlX OS - Device Admin allows remote authenticated users to alter the hosts file via crafted HTTP requests. The web application's Hosts functionality accepts syntactically invalid host-entry input and writes it into the device's hosts file rather than rejecting the request. A low-privileged account with permission to use Hosts is sufficient on versions 1.20.0 through 1.20.7 and 2.6.0 through 2.6.8.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
