Password recovery via computationally weak hashes
Published Apr 30, 2025 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Credential exposure in ctrlX OS - Device Admin allows remote authenticated users to recover other users' plaintext passwords. The users configuration file stores password hashes with insufficient computational effort, enabling recovery of the underlying plaintext. Low-privileged access and permission to use an affected device function are required; exposure is limited to password confidentiality.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.12.0 <=1.12.9
- Affected versionversion=1.20.0 <=1.20.7
- Affected versionversion=2.6.0 <=2.6.8
