CVE-2025-24293Network attack vector

Command execution via unsafe image transformation allowlist

Published Jan 30, 2026 · Updated Jan 30, 2026

Command injection in Rails Active Storage before 7.1.5.2, 7.2.2.2, and 8.0.2.1 allows remote attackers to execute commands. The default image-transformation allowlist accepts apply, loader, and saver, allowing untrusted variant names or nested arguments to reach MiniMagick command construction. Exposure requires image_processing with MiniMagick and attacker-controlled transformation methods or parameters, behavior Rails does not support by default.
