CVE-2025-24265

System termination via Xsan out-of-bounds read

Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Jul 22, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Xsan in Apple macOS allows local users to cause system termination by running a malicious app. Xsan reads beyond an intended buffer because its bounds checks do not reject an out-of-range access; Apple has not disclosed the affected function or input. Execution of an app is required on macOS Ventura before 13.7.5, Sonoma before 14.7.5, or Sequoia before 15.4, and the consequence is limited to unexpected system termination.
