Sandbox escape via improper file-access validation
Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Improper input validation in Disk Images in Apple macOS allows local users to run an app that breaks out of its sandbox. Apple identifies the locus only as Disk Images and has not published the file-access operation or input that the component validates incorrectly. The local app gate applies to Ventura before 13.7.5, Sonoma before 14.7.5, and Sequoia before 15.4; the bounded impact is loss of the app-sandbox boundary.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
