CVE-2025-24199

Local denial of service via uncontrolled format string

Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Jul 22, 2026

Uncontrolled format string handling in Apple macOS Ventura, Sonoma, and Sequoia allows local users to interrupt service through an affected app. Foundation processes app-controlled format-string input without sufficient validation on Ventura before 13.7.5, Sonoma before 14.7.5, and Sequoia before 15.4. The attack requires local execution and user interaction, and the reported consequence is limited to availability loss without data access or privilege gain.
