Gatekeeper bypass via mishandled JAR executable type
Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Gatekeeper bypass in Apple macOS allows attackers to run a malicious JAR without normal security checks through LaunchServices. LaunchServices mishandles the executable type assigned to crafted JAR input, allowing the archive to evade Gatekeeper validation. Exploitation requires user interaction with the crafted file; successful bypass permits its code to run without Gatekeeper's normal trust check.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
