CVE-2025-24124Network attack vector

Code execution via MOV parser out-of-bounds write

Published Jan 27, 2025 · Updated May 21, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in Apple CoreMedia on affected Apple platforms allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted MOV file. The MOV parser fails to validate user-supplied data before writing past the end of an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open the file, and successful abuse runs code in the current process; malformed input can instead terminate the app.
