Sandboxed file disclosure via improper path validation
Published Jan 27, 2025 · Updated May 21, 2026
Path handling in Apple's macOS Ventura before 13.7.3, Sonoma before 14.7.3, and Sequoia before 15.3 allows local users to read data outside a sandbox. LaunchServices accepts a path that crosses an app's sandbox boundary because its path validation is insufficient. Exploitation requires local app execution and user interaction; it exposes readable file contents without a reported ability to write data or interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
