Integrity loss and service disruption via MQTT overflow
Published Jul 8, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2025
Buffer overflow in Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3xxx firmware 1.6.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to disrupt charging stations via MQTT. The EichrechtAgent MQTT handler copies attacker-controlled message data beyond a destination buffer boundary. The Eichrecht function must support German Calibration Law; exploitation can alter only EichrechtAgent data or interrupt station service.
