Account takeover via unauthorized email-log access
Published Aug 7, 2025 · Updated May 13, 2026
Authorization bypass in Saad Iqbal Post SMTP 3.2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to take over administrator accounts. The get_details() function exposes REST API email-log contents after checking only that the requester is logged in, without enforcing an administrative capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to retrieve password-reset links from logged messages and use them to reset an administrator's password.
