Contributor-level script execution via unescaped shortcode output
Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Manny Costales GMap Shortcode 2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts into WordPress pages. The shortcode rendering path accepts contributor-controlled content without sufficient input sanitization or output escaping, leaving script markup in generated page output. Contributor access is required to plant the payload, and the code executes in a visitor's browser when the injected page is opened.
