Stored XSS via forged settings update
Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Hotspots Analytics 4.0.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject stored web scripts. A settings-update function fails to validate a WordPress nonce, so a forged request saves attacker-controlled script content. Exploitation requires an administrator to perform a crafted action; the stored script subsequently executes in a visitor's browser under the affected site's origin.
